La Clusaz is a beautifully located large village which has retained the “Frenchness” that so many resorts have lost over the years. You can visit the web site www.laclusaz.com for more information on the local area. La Clusaz Resort FacilitiesThere are Banks, Sports and Clothing Shops, Small Supermarkets, Butchers, wonderful bakeries and Cheese shops throughout the town as well as a number of Restaurants. There is parking for the ski slopes throughout the town, including a new purpose-built car park recently completed, but it does pay to park up fairly early to get the closest parking spots to the ski lifts (especially in the peak winter sports season). In La Clusaz, there are 56 ski lifts and 86 slopes (7 very difficult, 23 difficult, 28 fairly easy and 28 easy slopes) with the normal cafés and restaurants on the slopes. There is plenty of skiing for a week, both on and off piste. It is very easy to ski all day without having to come back to the town centre. At the end of a long day there are some very good bars in which to quench your thirst before returning to the Chalet! There are also some excellent restaurants in La Clusaz, including La Scierie, L'Arbe and La Ferne on the slopes. Other Ski Areas close to Chalet ArcadiaYou can also ski in Grand Bornand which is only 5 minutes drive from the Chalet. Other resorts such as Chamonix (and the Mont Blanc area) & Megève just an hour's drive away (subject to weather conditions). The Chalet is only 30 minutes drive from the unique and ancient town of Annecy which is extremely attractive, on the edge of Lac Annecy. There is a good selection of shops and restaurants for those who want a day off from skiing. The Aravis Ski AreaPlease see the ski maps on the La Clusaz website for the type and mix of lifts and runs. The Aravis Ski Area consists of approximately 200 kilometres of ski runs, 120 km's in La Clusaz and 80 km's in Le Grand Bornand. Certain Aravis ski passes cover the entire area. There is also cross country skiing information available on the La Clusaz web site. Lift PassesLift passes are available from a number of sites in the town. When you arrive at the Chalet there will be a detailed map showing you the places to buy the passes, and the cost. To give you an idea on costs, the current charges are: 6 day pass to the area – approximately £100 (£60 for under 15’s) depending on when you go. Ski Schools and Ski EquipmentThere are excellent Ecoles de Ski in the resort and the contacts for these are:
